Franklin & I (John Orr) can easily say that this was our proudest moment as coaches. Double elimination tournaments will test the mettle of any competitor, as many times our fighters find themselves exhausted in their 3rd, 4th, and sometimes even 5th fight of the day.
How you respond at that point separates men from cowards, and true warriors from participants. Today the BTT Long Beach Kids Team had 18 warriors go to battle.
18 warriors. 64 fights. 2 kids fighting guys way over their weights because they are naturally lighter guys (Riley & Matthew), and 1 kid fighting guys in an age group older than his because he is naturally large (Jake). We had veterans and newbies fighting side by side -- back to back.
When all was said and done we won 34 fights and took home 7 medals. A very solid dominant showing. That does not begin to explain the extent of it though. When 48 lb 7 year old Matthew, who was screaming directions at Bailey 3 feet from his face on the mat, was asked to get off the mat by the ref -- that was what it was all about. Teamwork and leadership development. The building blocks of character.

MMA and BJJ Legend, Murilo Bustamante returned to the cage at Impact FC in Australia over the weekend.
It was his first fight in almost 3 years and it ended up in a unusual way, verbal tapout by Murilo.
From the beginning it was clear that Murilo was there to do was he always did, finish fights.
He went for dangerous submissions attempts all the time during the first round but Jesse Taylor did a good job escaping from those. A nice display of BJJ by Murilo.
During the second round, Busta ended up playing guard. Taylor stayed busy from the top but Murilo was active with his guard, tying his opponent up.
Eventually the referee stands them up but Murilo couldn't stand back up,looking very unsteady on his feet. End of the fight.
"I was totaly dizzy when Big John put us standing again in the second round. The symptom was like something that affect my ear and made lose my balance." said Bustamante after the fight.
He is feeling good now, resting and teaching seminars around Australia.

Last couple of months Busta had some intense training at BTT Head quarter in Rio de Janeiro and is ready for the fight.
"I am just where I want to be, almost on the cage, doing what I love to do, backing on track, having a lot of fun! Nothing can be better than you "- said Bustamante.
