Go Milton!!
David "The Brazilian Swede" Bielkheden (15-7-0) is getting ready to fight May 29th in Helsinki, Finland at the M-1 Global event.
Coming off 2 wins, David has been training hard as usual and he is used to it, 10 years ago he decided to face the weather change and language barrier and moved from Sweden to Rio de Janeiro to train at renowned Brazilian Top Team.
He was welcomed into the BTT family by its leader, Murilo Bustamante.
“Murilo doesn’t judge people by color, religion, or race,” said Bielkheden, the only Scandinavian to have fought in both PRIDE and UFC.
“He evaluates you on how good you are and how you treat other people in the Academy.”
Best of luck to David and we'll post the result right after the fight.
May 16th was a great Sunday for Marcelo Perdomo's BTT Long Beach. Kids' coaches Franklin Quenga and John Orr went to the NABJJF All America's Tournament to show-off their jiu jitsu skills and heart with 14 of their kids.
The kids represented in customary BTT style -- fierce competitors, and lots of medals. They came home with the 3rd place team cup.
This is fantastic because the 1st place and 2nd place schools brought MANY more competitors.
BTT had the greater win percentage by far. Additionally John Orr entered this tournament and competed in a higher weight division and smashed his competitors.
John took home the Gold in the Purple Belt division. 15 to 0 was his first match and his second match ended in a choke submission.
14 Kid Competitors, 8 GOLD MEDALS amd 6 BRONZE MEDALS
Congratulations to all.
Specifics from the tournament are below:
Brazilian Top Team leader and former UFC Champion, Murilo Bustamante will fight Jesse Taylor in july at IMPACT FC.
The event will take place in Sidney, Australia and will have many well rounded fighters on its card.
Without fight since 2007, Murilo is very excited to get back in the ring and he is already in Rio training at BTT Headquarters.
Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Master Bustamante talking about his come back !
Once again the Tijuca Tenis Club's gym is the stage for the most important jiu jitsu championship in Brazil.
The “Campeonato Brasileiro”, as it is called in Portuguese, involves competitors from all age and belt groups: from four-year-old kids to 60-year-old senior athletes; from yellow belt all the way to black belt.
Every year fans and supporters of all the main schools fill the stands with emotion and celebration, making the “Brasileiro” a must for all Jiu-Jitsu enthusiasts In order to host so many people, the Brazilian Confederation – CBJJ – builds a schedule that is put to work over two weekends.
The first part was disputed over last weekend. Kids, white, blue and purple belts were in action and tomorrow and sunday will be the brown and black belt division.
The results are partial and Brazilian Top Team is leading the Master and Senior.
